Designer Lisa Nieves wins Orlando Fashion Week Design Challenge!

Martablog

I blogged a while ago about an amazing and talented Designer, Lisa Nieves from Puerto Rico. She talked about how she designed for Plus Size ladies and loved seeing their reaction when they tried on her designs, feeling glamorous and sexy. Designer Nieves is very well known and respected in Puerto Rico, bringing to Top Fashion Shows beautiful designs, among other accomplishments.

martablo

Many wonderful things have happened to her. She moved to Florida and competed in the Orlando Fashion Week Design challenge in November 2015, making her the winner. The Designer presented two collections Spring-Summer 2016 “Something New” on April 8th 2016 at the beautiful Baterby’s Art Gallery in Orlando Florida.

This collection is inspired in weddings that go by the superstitious quotes such as “Something borrowed”, “Something blue” and “Something New” that are passed by generations to the beautiful brides.  The pieces have a vintage feel, using colors as white, pearl, bridal blue and nude tones.  The fabric selections were beautiful hand embroidered lace, tulle, soft satin and mesh.  This is the designer’s first bridal inspired collection, therefore the name “Something New”.

Her Fall-Winter Collection 2016-17 “Step into my world” was presented on April 9th 2016. A collection with an edgy, yet feminine touch. Lisa invites everyone to see the world through her eyes with eye catching silhouettes, cuts, appliques and lace work.

The collection is true to winter tones using burgundy’s, blacks, winter whites and of course red, This is a perfect description of who she is as a designer, a versatile and creative designer who has the capacity to work any textile.

Designer Nieves has many projects in the works one being a Curvy one for Fall-Winter 2016-17… and this was music to my ears. Check out her work here.

My New Bestie this Summer!

Tracking PixelThis is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bandelettes®

IMG_8236

Summer is fast approaching and I could’t be more excited to wear tons of dresses again. Thankfully I live in a place that most of the time it’s warm but hey it’s Texas one day we can have a snow storm and in the same day a heatwave,  it’s crazy. One thing that makes me stay away from wearing dresses in summer is chafing, it’s absolutely the worst thing ever.

IMG_8237

I always end up slipping on some shorts or leggings just to prevent it from happening. But this summer I want my legs to be free from leggings and breathe for the first time. I found out a way that you can enjoy your summer without having to suffer from thigh chafing.

#thighband

Discovering Bandelettes® literally saved my poor thighs from being sore all summer. I’m serious when I say that Bandelettes® is going to be your bestie this summer and you won’t wear a dress/shorts again the same without it. The lace band is lined with silicone so it protects your skin from rubbing together, chaffing and creates a barrier between your thighs.

IMG_8251

I have been wearing them to work for the past two weeks now and I can guarantee you they do not slip. I know that was on my mind when I first received them. I thought it would roll down and drop to the ground; but to my surprise it stayed up for an 8 hour shift at a job that I am constantly on the move. If it could withstand all that it’s A++ in my book!

IMG_8253

I’m loving that it comes in so many sizes, from a size 2 to a size 22 and the band stretches as well which is a huge plus for me. unfortunately thigh chaffing is pretty common struggle for alot of people. I thought it was pretty awesome that these are unisex as well, men and women both struggle with thigh chaffing.  They come in tons of different colors, I ordered the Black lace and the unisex band.

IMG_8257

I am completely obsessed with them and want to order one in every color and style now; it’s sold at such an affordable price at just $15.99 a pair.  You can get yourself a pair as well and get 15% off your Bandelettes® purchase with the code SWAY2016. Offer valid until March 31, 2016. You won’t regret it!
